Metronet Thornlie-Cockburn Link

Principal: Public Transport Authority
Client: NEWest Alliance
Location: Perth Metropolitan Area, Western Australia
Status: In-Progress

In December 2019, the NEWest Alliance consisting of CPB Contractors, the Downer Group and the Public Transport Authority, was formed to deliver the Thornlie-Cockburn Link. The Thornlie-Cockburn Link will be Perth’s first east-west cross line connection, making travel around the city by train more flexible and providing a higher level of public transport service to Perth’s southern suburbs.

Works begin at the Beckenham Station where 3km of passenger rail will be duplicated to the Thornlie Station. From there 14.5km of passenger rail will be built alongside relocated freight rail, including the construction of the Nicholson Road and Ranford Road stations. The rail will pass through the Glen Iris tunnel in between the Mandurah tracks, ending at a newly built platform at Cockburn station. It is expected the Thornlie Cockburn Link will support growth and accessibility across the southern suburbs.

Survey Dynamics have been contracted to provide survey services for the project, liaising with Designers and Engineers for accurate completion of the required works.
