Survey Dynamics is providing Rio Tinto’s Greater Paraburdoo hub with survey support for their waste dump and legacy track rehabilitation projects. We are assisting with the construction of geomorphic terrain modelling and the implementation of key conformance attributes to ensure rehabilitated dumps weather and grow over a projected 300 years. For the Greater Paraburdoo hub, the work areas are spread throughout the Paraburdoo Mine Operations. Surveys are essential to the project teams, from initial control setup and validation of digital surfaces via drone flights, to machine control, volume calculations, and conformance reporting. The process begins with heavy dozer bulk pushing to design. Precise trimming is then carried out throughout the dump terrain. Drainage backslopes, crest bunds, and containment bunds are constructed to enable water catchment and absorption in all the right areas. Topsoil is spread at a consistent thickness, ensuring substantial material necessary for plant growth. The process concludes with ripping the ground and seeding with various native species to restore the area to a sustainable, habitable environment. This comprehensive approach ensures the successful rehabilitation of the area, aligning with Rio Tinto’s long-term environmental goals.

The team is also providing survey assistance with the rehabilitation of old tracks throughout the mine. Producing and updating machine files of rehab areas and avoidance zones for heritage areas.
